In April 2026, Nina Bögershausen represented our team at the 20th International Retinal Research Colloquium (“Potsdam Meeting”) in Potsdam. This long-standing meeting brings together international scientists from basic research, clinical practice and translational retinal research and is regarded as an established platform for interdisciplinary exchange on inherited retinal diseases. Since 2025, the meeting has been held under the patronage of the Albrecht Mayer Foundation for Retinal Research. This year’s programme focused, among other topics, on a detailed view of photoreceptors in the context of retinal degeneration, RPE dysfunction, and the role of non-neuronal cell types in retinal disease.
At the meeting, we presented our poster entitled “InsightRP2: A Translational Framework for RP2-Associated Retinal Dystrophy”. The work was chosen for a “Selected Poster Presentation” and featured in the scientific programme. The session focused on translating experimental approaches into potential therapeutic applications and the presentation attracted considerable interest and led to many stimulating conversations and scientific discussions with colleagues.
The 2026 Potsdam Meeting provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with international experts in the field of inherited retinal degeneration and to discuss current developments in therapy-oriented retinal research. We would like to thank the organisers of the meeting and are already looking forward to the Potsdam Meeting 2027.
